I've Got Nothing. But Wait... Oh, Yes I Do!

I've been running around the house this morning since 6 AM - making breakfast, packing lunches, signing permission slips, initialing homework, clearing my kitchen from all breakfast and lunch making stuff and doing laundry.

Since 6 AM, my brain has been working on an idea for a really great blog post today.

And this is what my brain came up with:

NOTHING.

As in, zero... zip.... zilch.

I apologize because I know that your day doesn't really get off to a good start until you've read some brilliant prose written by yours truly but you'll just have to push on through.

But for those of you who need a little "sumthin' sumthin'" from me or you just may have to go straight back to bed, I leave you with two completely random and totally unconnected things going on at my house.

1.  Lily is obsessed with oatmeal right now.  If I forget to lock the pantry door, she will run straight there, grab the box of oatmeal, and either bring it to me or carry it to the table - a clear indication of what she would like to eat.  While I am thrilled that she has honed in on such a healthy choice, I really can't be making oatmeal all the live long day.

My solution?  Make oatmeal in the morning.  Store in Tupperware container in fridge.  When Lily manages to grab the box because I've forgotten to lock the pantry again, I get out the container, put a couple spoonfuls in a microwavable cup, zap it, and give it to her.

She is happy.  I am happy.

Oatmeal is the best and easiest food for her to practice using a spoon all by herself, which could also be the reason it's so attractive to her.

I myself am a huge fan of oatmeal (but not mushy instant kind) and if you are, too, you really should check out Quaker's website for the literally hundreds of oatmeal topping ideas.  I can take exciting, thrilling and cutting edge stuff like this but it's not for the faint of heart, let me tell you.  So be sure you're sitting down before you log on.

2.  Ryley and her dad went to the Final Four basketball game in Houston last night.  Much to her father's joy, she has become quite the sports fan.

Ryley was thrilled!

But it wasn't all fun and games for her.  She took the opportunity to use her skills as editor of the school newspaper to conduct some interviews - a Butler player's father, a former NCAA coach turned agent, and a current NCAA athletic director.  For a girl considering a career in sports journalism, she was in heaven.

Going to a final four game also meant she could cross an item off her "bucket list".

That's all, folks!

By the way, for a blog post in which I didn't have much to say, it's pretty long, isn't it?  Oh well... I like to talk.  What can I say?

Have a great day!
