Well, it's past time for a post, I'll tell you that.
How about a little update on the Rush house happenings?
1. Remember our newest addition, Prada, the precious German Shepherd puppy? Click here if you missed it. Well, it turns out that I am allergic to dogs. And Reagan is allergic to dogs - as in, with prolonged exposure, severely, EpiPen allergic. We had to say good-bye to our sweet puppy and return her to the breeder who has since found another family that loves her and can breathe around her, too. Thankfully, Lily never really bonded with Prada so I didn't have to pry the dog away from her. That would have made it even more heartbreaking.
2. The Roomba. Also mentioned in the previous post link above.
Even though an indoor dog was the reason we purchased the Roomba, I didn't have to take it back, too. Which makes me really happy because I love this vacuum. I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see that little thing running around my house, keeping my floors clean. It does my tile, my rugs, my carpet, and my wood flooring. And it changes to those surfaces without a hitch. I do have to get a few things out of its path, like plants and a couple of electrical cords. But moving those things is easier than dragging out my vacuum. Roomba vacuums. I mop. And that is sweet. It gets my stamp of approval. Plus bonus? Lily likes it, too. Probably more than she liked the dog.
3. Ryley comes home from college on May 9th. Happy mom.
4. Reagan got her driver's license Monday. Happy, happy mom.
5. We had a great ARD meeting last week. And Lily will be attending what I think is going to be an awesome summer day camp that should be both fun and beneficial for her needs. Happy, happy, happy mom.
6. For the fourth summer in a row, the Rush family will be headed to Aspen in June.
Oh Aspen - how do I love thee? Let me count the ways: Hiking, biking, swimming, reading, mindless television watching, wandering around town, window shopping, eating oatmeal pancakes and Paradise Bakery cookies, browsing the bookstore.... rest, relaxation, and good family time. Is it June yet??
So what about you? Any big (or little) news going on? I love keeping up with you!
Have a great Wednesday, friends.
Our one and only granddaughter, McKenna, is getting married May 18th. We are planning a trip this week to deliver some furniture I had promised her. We are so excited about meeting her fiance and getting to know him before the wedding...so the next few weeks will be busy ones for us.
ReplyDeleteSounds fun!
DeleteBlake comes home from College on May 6th and she was one of 14 students at her college who were selected to travel to The Dominica in January of 2014 to help with sustainability projects there. Ellie has another lead in the school play coming up in May, a summer job all lined up, and will be getting ready to start her Senior year of High School and all that that entails this summer. Lastly, Tessie has been enrolled in the 4Paws for Ability January 2014 class for training with her seizure alert dog, her bilateral hip surgery is coming right up and just yesterday, got diagnosed with a perforated ear drum and subsequent ear infection. As for me, well, I am just trying to keep it together! ;)
ReplyDeletePS Totally jealous of your Aspen trip.
PPS Haven't heard back from the 24 hour EKG test so I'm hoping no news is good news?
You've got a lot going on, too! Your big girls sound like they're set for a fun summer. Even Tessie has something fun to look forward to - maybe that'll balance out that hip surgery. If you read this, remind me of the surgery date. Otherwise, I'll come find it on your blog.
DeleteP.S. I've been wanting to visit Bar Harbor, Maine for a few years now - it looks so beautiful! Maybe an anniversary trip one day.... and if I ever make it up there, I want to meet you!! :)
I definitely like the Roomba! :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd Aspen looks fantastic! I only knew it was a good place for skiing but it sounds really awesome in summer, too!
It's funny, we've never skied there. Only been in the summers and it's so beautiful and such a great escape from the Texas heat!
DeleteDear Lana,
DeleteI nominated you for a Beautiful Mama Blog Award! You can check out my post here: http://icansaymama.blogspot.de/2013/04/being-mama-is-beautiful.html
Ooh, lots of fab news - great to hear it all! Well, apart from losing your Prada. What a great name you gave her! Love your Roomba, so much so I want one! Aspen sounds heavenly, indeed any sort of a holiday sounds great to me. Really looking forward to getting a break :-)

Vacations are wonderful, aren't they? Even if they're not someplace exotic, just the break and change of scenery is great.
DeleteCan you believe we have children who have already finished up their FRESHMAN year of college!???? I certainly can't!!
ReplyDeleteYour post, today, made me happy, happy, happy, too! My favorite: that Lily possibly likes the Roomba more than the dog!!
E.
No I cannot believe we have children about to be sophomores in college. I think they are incredibly lucky to have such young and hip moms. :)
DeleteI'm sad about Prada but I am so happy that the transition to a dog and then not a dog was smooth!
ReplyDeleteI was bummed, too, Kerri. We may try again when Lily's a little older and Reagan has gone to college. We're doing allergy shots so maybe we'll get the allergies under control. We'll see....
