Today's the Day

Today is a big day around here.

We're taking Lily Bird for her follow-up MRI.  In case you missed it, you can click here to read the story of the first MRI so you'll know why this one today is a follow-up.

Because this isn't our first rodeo, I don't want to sound pessimistic but I'm not real sure that this second (well, really, third) MRI is going to tell us all that much.  We've learned that many times, these tests don't give lots of answers.

So we tend to look at it this way - tests like this often help us rule out things.  While we may not be able to say exactly what is wrong, many times we can at least know what Lily doesn't have.

Looking at it like that helps us keep our sanity since so much of autism (and neurology, for that matter) is still such a guessing game.

I don't expect to have results today but will hopefully hear something this week.

I can promise you, if it's one thing I've become an expert at through all of this, it's being the "squeaky wheel"!  I'm not afraid to call a doctor's office multiple times requesting test results so that we can make any necessary decisions.  Not so many times that I'm officially a pest, but enough times that the receptionist makes sure my message gets through so she doesn't have to keep talking to me!

I'll let you know what we find out.

Have a great Monday!

  1. Praying for some news for you! I would not call you a "squeaky wheel", I would call you an informed, caring, prepared parent. Given my experience working with doctors, the good doctors will appreciate these qualities in a parent!
