And The Lucky Winner Is.....

Otherwise known as Amy Greer!

And since I know where Amy goes to church, I will personally deliver The Family Dinner to her.

Congratulations Amy - now take that book off of your B&N wish list!

I wish I had a copy of the book for each and every one of you.  I encourage you to check it out the next time you're at a bookstore and see what you think.

I have about 1,001 errands to run this morning, including delivering some snacks to Lily's school.  We are quite snack deficient in the house today.  Actually, we're pretty food deficient, too.  I've waited as long as I can and must go the store today.  With summer right around the corner, I'm about to delegate the grocery shopping to my oldest.  Yet one more reason I'm glad there are only six more days of school!

When I get home, I'm going to make these yummy things:

Homemade Granola Bars - so much better than store bought.  And I can make them with not one artificial ingredient or preservative.  Perfect!  Click here to get the recipe for yourself.

OK - I've procrastinated long enough.  Time to head 'em up and move 'em out.

Have a great Wednesday and I'll see you tomorrow!

  1. I am intrigued with these! We would make them with chocolate chips only given our nut allergies but that would obviously still be very tasty. I don't have any wheat germ - I assume that can be purchased at HEB?

  2. What a great blessing! Thanks, Lana. I've been looking forward to having this ever since you recommended it a couple of months ago. We're all about family dinners at our house, and I'm glad to have something to freshen things up, especially as we begin our summer routines.

  3. Whitney - The granola bars are sooo good! Instead of peanut butter chips, you could use just chocolate chips like you said or you could even use white chocolate or butterscotch chips. Yes, you can pick up wheat germ at HEB but I used flaxseed meal instead this time. Flaxseeds are a great source of Omega 3's, fiber, and antioxidants plus they're low in carbs - even better for you than wheat germ. Just make sure you get the meal and not the seeds themselves. There's no taste so you can sprinkle a little in most anything - muffin batter, yogurt, oatmeal.... Your kids will never know about the little extra nutrition boost you're giving them! No matter which one you decide, try to get Bob's Red Mill brand (which they carry at HEB) and store them in your fridge. I think that's it for the nutrition lesson today! :) Hope you like them!

Amy - I really think you will like The Family Dinner. There are so many good, healthy, and easy recipes that will be perfect for summer. And so many good ideas for fun at the table - your kids are the perfect age to really enjoy a lot of them.

  4. Very excited! Lately I've really been trying to make more items from scratch (of the things that you'd normally just pick up at the store) and these sound perfect! And I will go with the flaxseed meal - sounds even better!
