Don't Hate Me....

... but I just might have the best communication notebook of anyone in the whole, wide world.

I'm talking about that back and forth communication log that's supposed to take place between home and school.

The one that tells us moms and dad how the school day went for our kids with special needs.

The one that parents usually have to beg and plead for.

The one that parents usually end up having to create and then keep their fingers crossed that the teacher will give them some details of the school days.

Well, mine may not be the cutest notebook I've ever seen...

... but it's what's on the inside that counts.

And take a look at what's inside my notebook:

That's right, people.  Actual communication.  Handwritten notes.  From the teacher.  From the speech therapist.  And from me.

I don't mean to make you jealous...

but like I said, I'm pretty sure I've got an awesome communication notebook.

And some awesome teachers.

Thank you, Lord!

  1. I'm so happy for all of you that you - and it's PURPLE!!! - and might I add that the pretty lace piece made the communication notebook even more impressive! You continue to be a pretty big deal in my opinion!!
Enjoy the rest of your week!

  2. That's so awesome! ...and I'm so jealous!! lol :) But happy for you at the same time. I just made my second request for communication yesterday. In my case, my daughter can't tell me about her day yet & I was sure to point that out. They told me that they would make a daily activity chart. *crosses fingers* Here's to hoping it's about more than what she ate & pull-up consumption!;)

    1. Cassie - You keep at it, girl! Lily can't tell me about her day either so I know how vital it is to get that information. I'm very lucky! What's funny is I had SO many of my blog friends tell me how hard it was going to be to get a good communication notebook so before school started, I took little checklists to the teacher, made suggestions on how best to communicate because I just knew it was going to be like pulling teeth! She would just smile and say, "I'll come up with something." To which I was thinking, "Oh boy." No one was more shocked than me to get notebook paper with full sentences! Yipee! Maybe you could show my notebook to your daughter's teacher and we could get a good old fashioned competition going! :)

No... seriously -- I'm happy for you. Lily needs that kind of support and I'm so glad you're getting it. You go with your bad self!

  4. I am lucky enough to have a real communication book also! Daily I hear from up to 4 teachers/therapist. But this is from a very special school, Giant Steps (AIND).
